"A most satisfactory transaction. The clock was delivered, set up and runs great"
Are the clocks in working order?
Yes, all complete and working correctly including moon, date etc unless stated otherwise in the description. The clocks are serviced and tested thoroughly before delivery.
Do you offer delivery and setup?
Yes, I offer a bespoke delivery and setup service to most parts of the UK. The default cost for this is £95 but may be more or less depending on your location, please contact for a quote.
Are antique longcase clocks reliable?
Yes, if they are properly serviced and set-up they will run reliably for many years.
Can I view the clocks?
Yes viewing is fine. I don't have a massive amount of space but if you let me know which clocks you are interested in I will make sure they are set up and can be seen working. Please use the contact details to arrange this.
Are antique longcase clocks a good investment?
A difficult question! these clocks have gone up and down in value over many (hundreds) of years and will probably continue to do so. At the moment values are significantly less than they were 20 years ago so could be a good time to buy. In my experience it is better to invest in rarer clock types (moons/ tidal/ musical/ lacquer) as these are more sought after and always command higher prices.
Are antique longcase clocks easy to maintain?
Yes, I would say so. It is important to keep the pivots oiled to prevent accelerated wear, I always do this as part of the service and then recommended every 5 years. Musical clocks benefit from more regular maintenance as they have more complicated movements. The cases are normally pretty durable, often with 'French-polish' (shellac) type finishes.
